McCoy, a senior, set an NCAA career record for victories by a starting quarterback during No. 3 Texas’ 51-20 triumph over Kansas on Saturday night in Austin. McCoy, 43-7 in four seasons as Texas’ starter, eclipsed the mark held by former Georgia quarterback David Greene (42).

The NCAA leader in completion percentage (72.96 pct.) this season, McCoy has thrown for 3,024 yards and 23 touchdowns while leading the Longhorns (11-0, 7-0 in Big 12) to a Big 12 South Division title and a berth in the Big 12 Championship Game, Dec. 5 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. McCoy ranks 10th nationally in pass efficiency, with a 152.33 rating, and is 12th in total offense (292.5 yards per game).

McCoy is an O’Brien finalist for the second consecutive year. He also was a runner-up for the 2008 Heisman Trophy.
